Case Study: The City Fine Wine Challenge

Now in its 23rd year, The City Fine Wine Challenge is the NSPCC’s annual interactive event for industry professionals in the Financial Services sector.

The NSPCC have been delighted to hold the City Fine Wine Challenge at One Great George Street for the past two years. The dedication from staff is exceptional and our guests have been really impressed with the standard of service offered as well as the beautiful characteristics of the venue itself.”

This year, on Thursday 28 February 2019, 240 guests enjoyed a champagne reception on arrival, a selection of fine wines, and the chance to win fantastic ‘money can’t buy’ items in the live auction, silent auction and raffle. Throughout the evening, teams competed to win the Challenge trophy as they tested their wine-tasting knowledge, or bought cheats to success.

Guests were welcome with a champagne reception within our Smeaton Room and Brunel Room, where they viewed the vast selection of auction items that had been donated by various companies. The call for dinner was made by the One Great George Street’s Front of House Team and guests were then directed to Great Hall where the rest of the evening took place.

Our inhouse AV company, Eclipse Global, provided the stage set, sound, technicians and also worked with the silent auction company to deliver a seamless event. As the main goal of the event was to raise vital funds for the charity, we worked alongside Eclipse to ensure that we could deliver a striking set, while making sure that we stayed within the budget set by the client.

During the wine challenge, platters of charcuterie, fish and cheese were distributed to all tables, with special dietary requirements also taken into consideration.
