I have decided to interview our experienced team to help you make those all-important wedding decisions…
Q. What are your favourite wines to have during a drinks reception?
A. For a white, I’d choose Gavi di Gavi – Roberto Sarotto, Piedmont (2017); this is a great choice for a drinks reception, it is not too heavy in acidity or alcohol and is an easy sipping type of wine, basically it’s gorgeous! And for a red, I’d choose Pietas – Carignan, Vieilles Vignes (2017); this wine will please most red wine drinkers as it is full of fruit and is not too tannic or full bodied. This is one of my favourites from our whole menu.

Q. What would be your ideal wedding menu from our selection?
A. We would recommend the below menu:
- Starter: Italian style aubergine baked with mozzarella cream and cherry tomato sauce (GF, V)
- Main: Fillet of beef on a rosti potato and chargrilled asparagus, with wild mushroom and madeira truffle jus (GF)
- Dessert: A selection of canapé desserts including chocolate dipped strawberries, lemon posset, macarons, cheesecake selection, tiramisu and fruit skewers (served plated or from a buffet)
We would recommend a vegetarian starter as it helps to be as inclusive as possible. This starter is a great choice as it is not only vegetarian but also gluten free. The fillet of beef is a classic wedding dish; there is something celebratory about serving a fillet of beef and this adds a sense of occasion to an event as it is not something that you would have every day. We have recently received some great feedback from our dessert buffets and wanted to include this on our banqueting menus, so we did. A great selection of mini desserts to enjoy! Alternatively, our Chocolate Fondant is a fail-safe; seldom has someone tasted it and not selected it for their event.

Q. Where would you recommend having your drinks reception and why?
A. I would recommend having a drinks reception on the ground floor as it is close to the facilities, such as our manned cloakroom and toilets. Our State Rooms also offer intimacy and grandeur.

Q. What is your favourite wedding colour scheme?
A. For me it would have to be lemon. This is the colour scheme I had for my wedding. Lemon is fresh and vibrant and makes me feel good. Seasonally dependent of course, but it is a great summer colour.

Q. What is One Great George Street’s best selling point?
A. If I have to pick just one, I’d go for our amazing customer service which results in a stress-free experience from start to finish. We have an excellent, long-standing team here at One Great George Street with a wealth of experience across the venue’s diverse divisions. We are also an independent venue with in-house catering and AV (together with the option of our preferred tried-and-tested external suppliers), so are essentially a flexible and stress-free one-stop-wedding-shop!
