Following the refurbishment project that was completed last year, we have now been able to assess the effectiveness of the energy saving measures that we installed, specifically our new boilers, secondary glazing to the Great Hall and replacement LED lighting.

So far, in the first 5 months of this year, we have recorded an impressive 13% reduction in our gas consumption and 5% reduction in our electricity consumption based on the same period last year (Jan – May).  This has resulted in a saving of approximately 25 tonnes of CO2 being released into the atmosphere so far.

The new LED lighting is also expected to last up to 5 times longer than the original mix of fluorescent and halogen lights thereby further reducing the amount of resources being consumed.  All of this, in addition to our existing sustainable initiatives, helps to minimise the our impact on the environment.
