On 7th August 2015, we announced a refurbishment works plan for 2016; with One Great George Street scheduled to be closed to the public from 20th June to 19th September 2016. The programme remains on track with some of the enabling works, which need to be completed before the building closes down, already completed.
Several surveys and tests have been carried out to enable the design and specification for the refurbishment project to be drawn up. The planning application has been submitted to Westminster City Council and the tenders for the works have been issued to prospective contractors for pricing.

Restrictions will be in place on 3 and 4 February
A major Government conference will be taking place near One Great George Street and as a result, there will be a significant security operation in place which will restrict access to the building.
Having pioneered accessibility in historic venues with one of the first sesame platform lifts, we’ve just completed new ground floor accessible shower and toilet facilities.

Today One Great George Street has announced an extensive refurbishment works plan for 2016.
Home to the Institution of Civil Engineers, the building was designed by Scottish architect James Miller and celebrated its 100th birthday in 2010. It has been a Grade II listed building since 1984 and first became available for public events in 1989. Offering 21 flexible event spaces, the magnificent, Edwardian building with rich neo-Palladian and Baroque interior is currently a popular choice for diverse markets. In 2016, the building will undergo a series of works designed to further improve facilities, energy efficiency and accessibility.
